Warning: Religion. To learn more, click the label dubbed Religion.

Kaya dreams of racing her beautiful mare Steps High. Her father warns her that the horse isn't ready, but when a pesky boy insults Steps High, Kaya accepts his challenge to race. As they ride, Kaya loses sight of her little brothers. Her carelessness earns her a nickname that her friends won't let her forget.

Kaya is a Nez Perce Indian. Like most of her tribe, Kaya has an appaloosa, a type of horse. The American Girl books are very historical.

In one chapter, Kaya tries to beat some annoying boys, but her plans backfire.

American Girl has many different types of dolls and books: these kinds are known as historical. Other groups include Girl of The Year, Beforever, My American Girl, and for the little ones, Bitty Babies and Bitty Twins. Some of the dolls even have there own movie.
